Special and Disability Education Studies (SDES) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal first published in 2026 and published biannually in June and December by Indonesian Scholar Society. The journal is dedicated to advancing research, theory, policy, and practice primarily in the fields of special education, inclusive education, and disability studies. SDES provides a scholarly platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to disseminate high-quality research and evidence-based approaches that promote educational accessibility, equity, participation, inclusion, and learning outcomes for individuals with disabilities and diverse learning needs across all educational levels.

SDES publishes original research articles, review papers, case studies, and theoretical contributions addressing topics directly related to special education, inclusive education, and disability studies. These include special and inclusive education, inclusive pedagogy, curriculum adaptation, educational assessment and intervention, educational support services, teacher education, disability and educational development, and accessible learning. The journal also considers studies involving related areas such as educational psychology, counseling, assistive technology, rehabilitation, educational policy, and community engagement when they have a clear and direct connection to special education, inclusive education, or disability studies. Studies addressing these supporting fields independently, without a substantive connection to the journal's core areas, are outside the scope of SDES.

SDES is published online and follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Submitted manuscripts are evaluated for their relevance to the journal's focus and scope and, following editorial screening, are reviewed by qualified independent reviewers to ensure the quality, originality, scientific rigor, and relevance of published works. Through the dissemination of high-quality scholarly contributions, SDES aims to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen evidence-based educational practices, and contribute to the development of equitable and inclusive educational environments for individuals with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
