Biodefense and Bioscience Studies (BBS) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing research at the intersection of biological sciences, national security, and public health. Our mission is to provide a global forum for scientists, policymakers, and security experts to share rigorous research that strengthens our collective ability to prevent, detect, and respond to biological threats—whether natural, accidental, or intentional. The journal welcomes original research, comprehensive reviews, and case studies in the following areas:

  • Bioscience Foundations: Molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology related to high-consequence pathogens and emerging infectious diseases.
  • Medical Countermeasures: Innovation in the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and rapid diagnostics for biodefense.
  • Biosurveillance and Detection: Advances in environmental sensing, genomic sequencing, and data analytics for early warning systems.
  • Biosecurity and Policy: Analysis of dual-use research of concern (DURC), international bioweapons conventions, and national biodefense strategies.
  • Biosafety and Risk Management: Best practices for laboratory safety, containment technologies, and agricultural biosecurity.
  • Public Health Preparedness: Strategies for emergency response, crisis communication, and pandemic modeling.
